Nigeria to battle Egypt in semi-final -Africa Junior Tennis Championship (AJTC)

Abuja -The national junior tennis coach, Ubale Mohammed on Thursday said Team Nigeria had qualified for the semi-finals of male Under 16 doubles at the ongoing Africa Junior Tennis Championship (AJTC), in Kenya.

Mohammed, from Kenya, said that the boys scaled through after defeating their South Africa counterparts at the quarter-finals of the male doubles.

He said Sylvester Emmanuel and Michael Michael represented Nigeria in the male U-16 doubles.

According to him, the eight Nigerian players have been eliminated from the singles championship.

The eight players had participated in the first round of the championship, in both U-14 and U-16 with only two of them making it to the quarter-finals of the event.

The coach said Nigeria defeated South Africa 6-4, 6-7,12-10 in the quarter-finals to enter the semi-final match against Egypt scheduled for Friday, March 21.

“We are looking forward to the next game and they will hopefully play well to defeat Egypt and I believe if we make it to the finals, we will have the day”, he said.

The AJTC championship will kicked off on March 17 will end on March 22
