For many a time, we have always advocated for African clothing to be promoted by Nollywood stars. As celebrities, they have and wield and enormous influence in the communities and fans who throng in numbers to meet them in person and stay glued by seats for endless minutes of each captivating movie.
However, Nollywood stars somehow choose to rather promote other brands that further diminish the presence of wholesome African fabric and cultural appeal. The Gucci’s, Levi’s and other established brands already have most of the Hollywood stars and other celebrities promoting them. They have marketing strength to push through their products and get to the masses. So why should Nollywood stars join the fray instead of promoting local fabrics to equally advance a rich culture to the world?
It’s probably not a lost cause after all if and only if the likes of Tonto Dikeh and her other colleagues can begin to promote beautiful fabrics as she has below:
