Budding Nollywood actress, Princess Eze from Arondizogu in Imo State never planned to join the make-believe world. The Business Administration undergraduate of Lagos State University, who was born in Owerri and raised in Lagos, was told by a friend to try her hands in acting as a way of getting over her boyfriend who ditched her for another girl.
That soon became a vocation, then a passion and now the beautiful Lasuite cannot imagine life without acting. According to her, the journey was anything but easy. Hear her story:
I first came into Nollywood in 2011, after I broke up with my former boyfriend. A friend of mine sensed I was down emotionally and wanted to encourage me. He asked me to accompany him to an audition alongside some of his other friends . When we got there, they gave us scripts to read as well as rehearse.
I wanted to drop the script but my friend asked me to give it a shot, telling me it would help me to get over the pain inflicted on me by my ex boyfriend. There and then, they cast me for a role.
But after that, I went for more auditions but things were not as easy as that first time.
Back then, I went for many auditions. In some, they would pick me but they would not call me for the job; and in some, they would call me but before I got there, they would have given the role to someone else. It was so discouraging that I had to stop going for auditions for a while and decided to face my study.
I didn’t go back until I met Mr Kingsley Omoefe through a friend who decided to give me my first substantial role. I later joined a theatre group to sharpen my skills as an actress and returned finally in 2012 to begin again.
My journey has been dogged with many difficulties but I thank God I am beginning to find my foot in the industry. I have featured in some soaps like Yours Faithful; The Couples; Single Ladies and others. For home videos, I have featured in Pregnant Hawker;, Private Parts, Daddy Goes to School and BB Anointing, among others
