In view of the Local Government election holding in the state today, the Government of Edo State has declared restriction of movement throughout the duration of the election. According to a statement by Peter Okhiria, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Oshiomhole, the restriction of movement was from 6:00am to 5:00pm during which the election will hold. The statement also said only security personnel, electoral officers, accredited election observers, accredited press men and others on essential duty were exempted from this restriction order.
"We wish to also implore the electorate to go about their civic duties without fear of molest, intimidation and attack as the security agencies are under strict instructions to arrest and deal decisively with anyone who may want to cause a breach of the peace in the state before, during and after the elections. "Travellers to any part of Edo State are please advised to comply with the order", the statement added.
