Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State on Friday called on Nigerians to continue to pray for peace and unity in the country.
The Governor, who is also the chairman, Northern Governors Forum (NGF) according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), made the call in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mr Israel Ebije, in Minna. Aliyu said Nigeria would come out of its social, political and economic challenges stronger and more united.
He decried a situation where competing interests, fragmented views and volatile religious cleavages would continue to shape perspectives on national issues.
“I am optimistic that one day we will all sit together as Nigerians regardless of ethnic or religious affiliation to deliberate on how to move our dear country to its deserved social, political and economic height," he said.
The governor called on Nigerians to continue to be vigilant to safeguarding democracy and ensure peace and stability of the nation, assuring that salvation would soon manifest.
