Insecurity: Ihejirika Advocates Synergy among Govts, Security Agencies

Immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Azubike Ihejirika, has called for synergy between security agencies and governments at all levels in order to achieve sustainable peace and security across the nation.
He made the call at the weekend in his remarks after receiving a chieftaincy title during a grand civic reception at Umuahia, saying that Abia State was a typical example of how government and security agencies could synergise to achieve good results in security.
Ihejirika, who got a heroic welcome by the people of Abia, said one of his outstanding achievements was the restoration of peace and security to Abia state when kidnappers and other criminal elements were holding sway. He said Abia was freed from the grip of the criminals because of the synergy between the security agencies and the state government.
After receiving a chieftaincy title of Dike Abia (Valiant warrior of Abia) the retired general expressed pleasant surprise at the honour done to him by both the government and the people of Abia, adding that by honouring him, Governor Theodore Orji “has set indelible example” which other governors should emulate by honouring deserving people. He dedicated his chieftaincy title “to my commanders and soldiers who showed loyalty in the midst of daunting challenges.”
Indeed Abia rolled out the drums to celebrate their son after 39 years of service in the Nigerian Army, during which he rose to the apex of his career as CoAS and served the fatherland creditably before he retired last month. Chairman of the state council of traditional rulers, Eze Eberechi Dick, said the chieftaincy title conferred on Ihejirika by the royal fathers was “a crown of victory” for the people’s general.
