Three girls have beaten 28,400 others to clinch the top prizes at the 11the Edition of the annual National Mathematics Competition for Primary five and six pupils organised by the Nigerian Turkish International Colleges, in collaboration with National Mathematical Centre.
At the competition, which held recently in Abuja, Miss Adaora Nnadi from Bereton Montessori Primary school, Port Harcourt scored 97.9 per cent, while Miss Sashe Ojuba from Corona School, Lagos, scored 96.7 per cent. The third position was a tie between Miss Mitchelle Adaeze Okoli of Mount Olive School, Anambra; and Master Oluwadara Olawoye of Childs Play Mini School, Oyo state both with 95 per cent.
Adaor received a cheque gift of N100,000 presented by the Special Guest Ambassador of Cameroon Mr. Salaheddine Abbas Ibrahima.
The four top pupils alongside nine others received full scholarships into the NTIC. Partial scholarships were also awarded by the school to 97 students. CODEWIT gathered that the school gave out scholarships worth N48 million to several pupils.
