The All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State Chapter has successfully undertaken the harmonization of the different interest groups within the party in Rivers State.

This followed series of meetings between the State Working Committee with the party’s national assembly members of the party, Harmonization Committee, local government chairmen and major stakeholders of the party across Rivers State.

The harmonization committee chaired by Hon. Asita Honourable Asita, of the House of Representatives, supervised the harmonization process Wednesday after a marathon meeting held at the party’s State Secretariat at Old GRA, Port Harcourt, between it and the leadership and members of the legacy parties (defunct ACN, ANPP and CPC) and other political groups that fused into the APC.

High point of the meeting was when Chief Clifford Njah (Andoni) moved a motion to henceforth declare all former legacy parties and groups dead and defunct. The motion was supported by Hon. Hope Nyeche (Etche); subsequently, the meeting adopted and passed the motion accordingly.

It will be recalled that earlier in the week, meetings of the State Steering Committee and National Assembly members had been held where a 3-man Harmonization Committee was raised. The Committee comprising Hon. Asita Honourable Asita (Chairman), Hon Tamuno Williams and Chief Mike Nwielaghi swung into action immediately.

According to the Spokesman of the APC in Rivers State, Chief Andy Nweye, “The harmonization process is work-in-progress; all possible fallouts from the process will continually be dealt with by the committee as they arise.”

Meanwhile, the present harmonization process will reach its crescendo Thursday, January 9, when the Harmonization Committee will meet with the PDP LGA Chairmen. That meeting is expected to provide the platform to carry out final harmonization of the PDP local government chapters and structures and fusing all into the APC after which all other groups within the PDP and other parties shall be effectively declared out of existence.
