Osun APC Raises Alarm over Planned Assault on Chieftain

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State at the weekend raised the alarm that a highly connected People Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart was planning to storm the house of a prominent APC chieftain with soldiers on suspicion that he is into gun-running and stockpiling arms in his residence.
Information which got to the party’s secretariat alleged that the assault, which might happen anytime soon, would see the APC chieftain spirited away in the process.
In a statement made available to journalist in Osogbo by the Publicity Director of the APC Secretariat, Kunle Oyatomi, said: “A palpable misuse of federal security force like the army by a private citizen for such operation was not only illegal but an abuse of privilege in high places which has become the trademark of the PDP.”
According to him, anybody found to be engaged in illegal activities should be dealt with through normal legal process by the police and not the business of a private citizen to use soldiers to invade the house of a rival politician suspected to be doing something wrong. “This is the kind of criminal impunity that Nigeria should stop,” the APC said.
The party therefore called on the Nigeria police to be vigilant and keep a close watch on politicians and individuals in the state notorious for violence, and prevent them from causing mayhem in the state.
The party also appealed to the military to resist evil-minded politicians within the state who may wish to compromise their professionalism to harass innocent citizens.
It however charged the people in the state to be alert “because information at its disposal shows that frustrated politicians are on the loose planning violence as well as arranging to flood the state with mercenaries from other places. They must be stopped.”
