Kogi State Police command is holding a 13-year-old primary school boy, Yunusa Halilu, who was alleged to have killed his friend in a scuffle over a GSM ear-piece.
The state’s Acting Commissioner of Police, Austin Evakhabokun, an assistant commissioner of police (ACP), who disclosed this while parading 16 armed robbery and culpable homicide suspects at the police command headquarters in Lokoja on Thursday, said Kogi State won’t be a haven for criminals.
He explained that there was a scuffle between the suspect, Halilu and late Mustapha Kazeem who was 12 years over a bluetooth ear piece the suspect lent him that got damaged.
He said there was an exchange of hot arguments and disagreement between the suspect and the deceased, adding that as Halilu insisted on being paid for his damaged ear piece, the deceased was said to have at the same time accused him of being a thief.
The Police boss stressed that in the process. Kazeem was said to have become furious and rushed into a room and brought out sharp cutlass which he used to inflict injury on the suspect’s head.
The acting commissioner noted that in the same vein, the suspect noting his injury, in turn rushed to a nearby restaurant, picked up a sharp knife and stabbed the deceased in the chest that led to his death.
While speaking with journalists, the suspect confirmed that he lent the late Kazeem a telephone ear piece.
He also confirmed that the was his friend.
Halilu, a primary five pupil, stated that when he demanded for the return of the ear-piece he discovered that it had been damaged, stressing that he then insisted on having back his bluetooth when the fight ensued.
He noted that the deceased macheted him on his head and in an attempt to revenge, he stabbed him in the chest which led to his untimely death.
The acting police commissioner also paraded another suspect in respect of culpable homicide case, Suleiman Alhaji Jeile, who allegedly killed Abu Ibrahim and 14 robbery suspects including an 85 year-old-man whose nephew was involved in a car robbery.
