The Founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc. Chief Olasubomi Balogun, has handed over the N2 billion Otunba Tunwase National Pediatric Centre to the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. The centre is located in Ijebu-Ode.

"Children are close to my heart and may be that is why God blessed me with healthy children and grandchildren," he said.

He explained that his reason for handing over the facility to UI was as a result of the recognition accorded him by the institute when they awarded him a honourary doctorate degree many years ago.

He added the facility was given to UI was after seeing the equipment, which were crying for help, saying he was moved especially by the plight of the kids.

"UCH invited me and some others to come and see the condition of their equipment, which were crying for help and i was moved especially with the plight of the children there hence, deciding to dedicate my life to taking care of them," Balogun said.

While stressing that the centre would be dedicated to the care and welfare of children, he also noted that accommodation was built for over 100 post graduate students at the centre for their welfare.

Balogun, however, urged the UI board not to allow his dream to crash but endeavour to improve on what it is now.

"Extend the services beyond children by upgrading the academic department and also keeping it to international standard.

Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor, UI, Mr. Isaac Adewole, in his acceptance speech expressed gratitude to Balogun for the laudable project, which he handed over totally to the school.
